NEW VISA POLICY FOR FOREIGNERS

1. TOURIST VISA
i. All tourists (except nationals of counties on negative list) will be issued 30 days Landing Permit at airports and other entry points, on arrival.
ii. RPOs will grant entry visa upto 3 months, on application within validity of the Landing Permit.
iii. Further extension upto 3 months can also be granted by RPOs on application.
iv. RPOs will also allow one or two re-entries to the tourists on application, charging visa fee as fixed on reciprocal basis subject to a maximum of US $ 10/- only.
v. For Northern Areas, the Deputy Commissioner Gilgit is being authorized to allow extension in visa and one re-entry to the tourists in Northern Areas, charging visa fee as per policy .He would, however, exercise these powers himself and would not delegate these powers to his sub- ordinate officials.

2. BUSINESS VISA
i. Pakistan missions abroad can issue multiple entry visa upto 3 years to businessmen and investors from 44 listed countries with substantial investment in Pakistan.
ii. Where there is no Pakistani Embassy, Businessmen /Investors from any country, will be allowed 30 days Landing Permit at airport.
iii. Multiple entry resident visa upto 3 years will be issued to businessmen of all counties except those not recognized by Pakistan, who bring in an amount of US $ 200,000/-.

3. WORK VISA
Grant of Work Permit cases are cleared by a Committee headed by the Secretary, Board of Investment .The representative of Ministry / Division concerned with the respective case also attends as co- opted member.

4. REGISTRATION OF FOREIGNER WITH POLICE
i. It has been decided to exempt all the foreigners from registration with police, except the nationals of countries on negative list.
ii. Even in the case of countries on the negative list (except Indians and foreigners of the Indian origin), their nationals in the managerial category, who are issued Work Visa will also be exempted from police registration.

As per the Inter Ministerial meeting held to review policy on issuance of visas to tourists / businessmen, held under the chairmanship of Mr. Hassan Raza Pasha, Secretary Interior on 22nd August 2000. The visa policy was issued and distributed by the Ministry of Interior letter No. 1/4/2000-VISA dated August 30th, 2000
